What is a Colonic?

A Colonic, also known as Colon Hydrotherapy or Colon Irrigation, is a gentle method of removing waste from the colon without the use of drugs or laxatives. At our Sacramento location, we hydrate the colon by infusing filtered water into the rectum through a sterile, disposable speculum. In a closed system, there are two separate lines—water in, waste out—to prevent any possible contamination. In an open system, the sterile rectal-disposable speculum uses one line for water in. The process softens and loosens the fecal matter, allowing the natural peristalsis action to evacuate it. This process is repeated several times during the session.
